Tools & Workflow Terminology

Mapping Template

A Mapping Template is used to configure and customize data when moving through the Flxpoint system.

Customization example:

  • A manufacturer provides SKU 123 for an inventory variant, but you would prefer to use the UPC as the SKU
  • Flxpoint allows a user to map the UPC from the manufacturer to the SKU of the inventory variant (see below)

For more information on mapping templates please refer the Mapping Template section.

Mapping Set

A mapping set is used to convert fields mapped to a value from a known set to a new associated value.

  • You can set Incoming Data points to automatically route to new values based on the mapping set.
  • For instance, if you create a Category based Mapping Set that changes a Category from “Food and Beverage” to “Food & Beverage” you can apply it in your Get Inventory Primary Mapping Template to automatically adjust the incoming values to be the new and desired value.

For more information on mapping sets, please see the Mapping Sets section

Building Template

  • Building Templates are used between Stages in Flxpoint.
  • All SKUs will pass through a Product Building Template to move from Source Inventory to the Product Catalog.
  • Likewise, when Products move from the Product Catalog to the Channel Listings, they will move through a Listing Builder Template.
  • By default there will be no adjustments to the data at these stages; however, these templates can have additional rules and adjustments if needed to cultivate the data the Flxpoint user is looking for

Customizations

  • Customizations refer to any changes in a SKU at the Product Catalog or Channel Listings stage.
  • You can Customize any data point and (if needed) you can do a Bulk Customization, in which you’ll upload a spreadsheet of data with SKUs and whatever customization you are trying to make.
  • For instance, if you were attempting to update the descriptions on products, you’d want to create a spreadsheet with the Parent SKUs as well as the new descriptions.

Workflows

  • Workflows are areas in which we can further manipulate data on Products, SKUs, Listings, Inventory, and Orders.
  • This can be done in the following areas: Post Mapping Workflow, Order Importing Workflow, Order Routing Workflow, PO/FR Strategy Workflow, Pricing and Quantity Workflow.
  • In these areas you may place rules that manipulate data based on specific parameters.

Rules

  • Rules are how we manipulate data in our Workflows.
  • The rules are based off of discreet logic which will be a set of IF, THEN parameters that you can set.
  • For instance, "IF SKU Equals X, THEN Subtract 5 from Quantity," if you have a specific SKU that sells so fast that your suppliers cannot fulfill all the orders.

Actions

  • The Action Menu will be visible in many places within Flxpoint. This menu will change depending on where you are viewing it.
  • For instance, the Action Menu on a Purchase Order would include “Process POs”; whereas, the Action Menu on and Order would include “Generate POs”.

Filters

  • Filters are a tool within Flxpoint that allow you to sort your Inventory, Products, Listings, and Orders based on Parameters of your choosing.
  • There are prebuilt filters on the left-hand side of Flxpoint and the option to Manage your own Saved Filters. You may also create one-time use filters at the upper left-hand portion of the screen.

Bundles

    • Bundles are an option within Flxpoint to sell a group of products in a Single SKU; also known as Kitting.
    • When utilizing the Bundle Feature within Flxpoint, we will automatically update the Quantities of the Bundle SKU to reflect the required components of the Bundle.
    • For instance, if you have a Bundle that consists of 2x SKU 12345 and x3 SKU 6789, we will display a Bundle Quantity of 1 if SKU 12345 has an available quantity of 100 and if SKU 6789 has an availability of 3.

Shipping

  • Shipping Mappings

    • Shipping Mappings are an option set inside your settings for each of your Sales Channels.
    • A shipping mapping should reflect the text we receive that indicates how the customer will receive their products.
      • For example, Standard Shipping or Expedited Shipping.
      • These Shipping Mappings will lead directly into a Shipping Policy within Flxpoint.
  • Shipping Policies

    • Shipping Policies within Flxpoint are the middle man between your Shipping Mappings and Shipping Methods.
    • Once you have a Shipping Mapping that points towards a Shipping Policy, we can then route that information through to a Shipping Method.
    • This way you can take the shipping options from multiple Sales Channels, route that information through Shipping Policies, and then send the correct and available Shipping Method to each unique supplier.
