Tech Data

How to Connect

A valid, active, Tech Data account is required, along with the following credentials

  1. Shop.Techdata.com Login/Password
  2. Tech Data Account Number

Along with one of the sets of credentials below:

  1. Tech Data XML Username (If using XML)
  2. Tech Data XML Password (If using XML)

OR

  1. Tech Data FTP Username (If using FTP)
  2. Tech Data FTP Password (If using FTP)

The Tech Data XML Username and Password are not the same as the Tech Data FTP Username and Password. Both sets of credentials would need to be requested from Tech Data. We recommend users ask for the XML credentials due to the FTP file only being updated once daily. Tech Data has a limit of 10,000 SKUs per hour through their XML. Our system will not allow you to try to queue over 10,000 products in this operation; doing so puts your account at risk of losing access to Tech Data's XML.

Product Operations

Get Inventory [Primary]

Supported

The Get Inventory Primary operation imports product data into your Flxpoint account.

This operation can be configured in two ways.

The first option is to use our pre-built connector for Tech Data's GIP operation.

The prebuilt connector requires your Tech Data Account Number, and your shop.techdata.com ECID and password.

The integration grabs your personal PartSmart catalog and imports it to Flxpoint.

The second option is to use our partnership with Etilize to import enhanced product data. If you have an Etilize account already; please reach out to Support@flxpoint.com to integrate this directly into your account.

1. If you do not have an Etilize account and would like to learn more, please refer to this link

Get Inventory [Secondary]

Supported

The Get Inventory Secondary operation can be configured in two ways.

Recommended

Our recommended integration for Tech Data's GI(S) operation requires requesting your Tech Data XML credentials. It's also more involved to setup; but has significantly more accurate data.

Once you have these credentials, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to "Sources" and open your Tech Data integration.

  2. Go to "Get Inventory Secondary"

  3. Select "Tech Data" from the integration type menu.

  4. Input your Tech Data XML UserID and Password into the Connection Configuration menu.

  5. Select the "Production" Environment.

    1. You will need to upload a .csv file that contains the products you would like to manage in this integration. The Product SKU should be used. The file should contain one column.
    2. You will then select the warehouses you would like to import inventory from. The quantities of the selected warehouses will be summed.
  6. Configure your mapping template.

  7. Save the integration.

Once these steps are completed, you will need to go to your "Source Inventory" tab.

Once in the Source Inventory tab create an export of the products you would like to monitor on an hourly basis. (Up to 10,000)

You can do this by using filters and then hitting "Actions" > "Export".

You will only need the "Variant SKU" column on this export, rename this to "SKU".

Once this export is created, you will need to return to the Get Inventory Secondary operation.

Once here, import your file and select the warehouses you would like to monitor.

The second method of setting up this integration will require your Tech Data provided FTP Credentials.

  1. Go to "Sources" and open your Tech Data integration.
  2. Go to "Get Inventory Secondary"
  3. Select "CSV/XLSX" for the integration type.
  4. Select "FTP (Basic Auth) as your Connection Type
  5. Input your FTP credentials
  6. Configure the File Name and Remote File Folder for retrieving your FTP file.
  7. Generate your mapping template and enable "Parent SKU", "SKU", "Quantity", and "Cost".

It's important to note that this FTP file is only updated once per day.
