Build Listings for a Channel
Goal: Publish a subset of product variants to a specific channel with channel-specific content.
Scenario: You have already built product variants and want to publish them to a channel.
| Before You Get Started |
To build listings, first ensure you have a Channel created for these listings to be associated with. |
Steps:
- Open the Product Catalog and filter to the variants you plan to publish.
- Select the target variants (parent- or variant-level selection is supported).
- Click Create Listings (top-right) to open the flyout.
- In the flyout, select the Channel and the Mapping Template (default is pre-filled).
- (Optional) Review the recommendation to link after building.
- Click Create Listings to start the background process.
| Building for Multiple Channels |
If you build on channels A, B, and C, and A and B finish but C has not, status remains Building. It shows Linked to All Channels only after all selected channels finish. |

🛠️ How-to Guides
A. Create or Choose a Mapping Template
You already have a default Mapping Template when you click Create Listings. To manage templates directly:
Settings → Mapping → Templates → Builders → Listing Builder
- Click Generate Default Template or create one manually.
- The template controls how product variant data flows into listing fields for the channel.
| Master SKU Removed From Listing Builder Templates |
The Master SKU field is no longer available as a field in Listing Builder mapping templates. Mapping listings on Master SKU could group variants incorrectly, producing listings with the wrong quantity and price for bundles. When mapping listing fields, use the product variant’s own identifiers (for example, its SKU) instead of Master SKU so each variant maps to the correct listing. Already built with Master SKU? If you have Listing Builder templates that previously mapped on Master SKU, update those templates and Rebuild the affected listings so the corrected quantity and price are applied. See D. Rebuild Listings below. |
| Variant and Parent Image Fields Removed From Listing Builder Templates |
Individual variant image and parent image fields are no longer available as mappable fields in the Listing Builder or when you Rebuild listings (see D. Rebuild Listings below). Field naming has also been aligned for consistency: the identifier field is now labeled SKU throughout the Listing Builder. Older references to Variant SKU and Listing Product Option have been removed. |
B. Choose Product Variants
From Product Catalog, select individual variants or filter for a bulk selection.
| Note |
You can build from the variant or parent level. From variant level, only selected variants load. From parent level, all associated variants load. |
C. Build Listings
- Select variants in Product Catalog.
- Click Create Listings.
- In the flyout, choose Channel and Mapping Template, then Create Listings.
- Each channel uses the most recent Mapping Template you applied; first time uses the default.
D. Rebuild Listings
Rebuild to overwrite existing listing content with updated product data or different priorities.
- Open Channel Listings and select listing variants.
- Choose Actions → Re-Build.
- Select whether to reuse previous templates or choose a new Mapping Template.
- (Optional) Also rebuild parents when starting from the Variants view.
E. Stop Building
Remove items stuck in “Building” state for a specific channel.
- From Product Catalog, select the parent or variant.
- Click Actions → Stop Building.
- Select the channel in the dropdown.
- Click Remove From Queue and confirm Yes.

🔍 Explanation
What Are Listings?
Listings are channel-specific records built from product variants. Building listings lets you:
- Choose subsets of variants per channel.
- Apply channel-specific content and transformations.
- Create a static snapshot that won’t change immediately if the product data changes later (unless you rebuild).
Mapping Templates & Linking
- Mapping Templates transform product data into listing fields required by the channel.
- When building listings, the most recent template used on that channel is applied; first-time builds use the default template.
- After building, you can link the listings as a next step to sync with the channel.
Multi-Channel Build Behavior
Building across multiple channels finishes per channel. Status remains Building until all selected channels complete, then becomes Linked to All Channels.
